Good to know:

  • MARTA runs from the airport to the hotel district, coming up through Peachtree Center Mall.
  • the CVS in Peachtree Center Mall will likely be open later during Dragon Con due to the increased foot traffic
  • "Coke Fish Rights Park" is:
    • World of Coca-Cola (like $15/person, worth it if you haven't been)
    • Georgia Aquarium (can be pricey but there are also events held there during con)
    • Civil Rights Museum (also like $10~15/person, also worth it if you haven't been)
    • Centennial Olympic Park (just behind all this, dedicated to that time the Olympics were here)
  • Joystick Gamebar in the Peachtree Center Mall will be open late during Dragon Con
  • Metro Diner will usually also be open very late, if not 24-hours
  • the skybridge extending from Peachtree Center running parallel to John Portman has a set of stairs about midway through that you can walk down to get inside the street-level parking lot between Peachtree Center and the Courtland St Parking Deck.
  • the Registration line runs down the hill along Andrew Young then turns the corner and walks up Piedmont before entering the hotel at the back. there are usually food trucks in the Courtland Grand's parking lot with some decent options.
    • the carpool / valet area just in front of the Courtland is where people like to park their project cars (like an Ecto One or Batmobile) - especially if they have one that's going to be in the parade
  • if you make friends with a Hyatt Atrium Tower guest with a balcony overlooking Peachtree Street, you've pretty much got the best seats in the house for the parade (but it is also broadcast on DCTV and CW during)
  • DCTV is your friend if you're staying in one of the host hotels and can't/won't make it to a panel in time.
  • there is an outdoor entrance to Trader Vic's on the John Portman side. useful if you don't feel like waiting on an elevator or can't grab one of the 4 that actually go all the way down there.
  • beware the liquor stores. they know we're coming, and they jack up their prices during a convention because they know most of us are kind of a captive audience. but there's a Publix down the street a ways if you don't care about the harder stuff. just have your ID and don't try to get it before noon on Sunday.

The secret food court is in the Marquis tower you don't end up walking through on your way to the regular food court. You access it by taking the skybridge path from the Marriott toward the Hyatt, but turn right and walk through the Marquis building and across another skybridge to get there. these places don't tend to stay open too long and might not be open on the weekends, but if it's busy and you need lunch, it's an option.

[!caution] Remember You can no longer use the AmericasMart skybridges during the convention, at least since I last checked.
