i've got a lot of thoughts on *Dune*, but i'm not entirely sure how many of them are exactly...*original*.
# the three Dunes
there are three *Dune*s.
the first, *Dune* (1984). David Lynch directed and gave quite a bit of art direction. Kyle MacLaughlan, Patrick Stewart, hell, even Jürgen Prochnow. poor Virginia was robbed. "stylistic" is a light way of putting it. extremely chopped up. watch the **Spicediver** edit with the deleted stuff cut back in if you can.
the second, *Frank Herbert's Dune* and *Children of Dune*, both Sci-Fi Channel productions. mini-series, both. "stupid hats Dune" as I refer to it. this Baron Harkonnen always ends his scenes in a rhyming couplet like he's in a Shakespearean drama.
